In 1982, the cross-pollination of running technology into basketball design forever changed the trajectory of basketball footwear. Nike Air, although invisible, made its court debut in the sole of the Air Force 1. Three decades later, Nike Sportswear reintroduces and re-envisions the iconic basketball shoe for the women who have adopted this style as their own.
Realizing that personal style varies from person to person, the Nike Sportswear design team created a spectrum of Air Force silhouettes that stay true to the heritage of the Air Force 1 while offering significant updates in fit and form. The original Air Force 1 Low and High are joined by the all new Air Force 1 Ultra, Ultra Mid and Nike Lunar Force 1 Sky Hi to bring the legendary silhouette to places no force has gone before.
Air Force 1 Low and High
Responsible for introducing Nike Air to Basketball, and going on to become a timeless statement of style, the Air Force 1’s original silhouettes – low and high – have returned to claim the throne as the pinnacle expression of sport and street. True to their heritage, these models feature leather uppers, Nike Air cushioning, metal doubrés, and a crown-inspired toebox perforation pattern just like the originals.
Air Force 1 Ultra Low and Mid
For those who like a sleeker aesthetic, the Air Force 1 has been reduced to its core signature details. Premium leather uppers are updated for a slimmer footprint. Completing the refined classic, Phylon midsoles and reduced rubber outsoles complement trademark Nike Air cushioning for lightweight comfort.
Nike Lunar Force 1 Sky Hi
While the Air Force 1 has remained in the spotlight throughout its 30-plus year lifespan, sneakers are entering an unexplored realm. Classic styles are reimagined for unique looks; now the shoe known as the “uptown” is going uptown as well. Instead of its classic rubber outsole, the Lunar Force 1 Sky Hi utilizes a wedged outsole complete with Nike Air cushioning and Nike Lunarlon for improved comfort and elevated style. This is Air Force like never before.
The Nike Sportswear Air Force 1 pack will be available on Nike.com and select Nike Sportswear retailers beginning July 17.
