Considering the Impact of Our Choices
Our designers – the creative power of our company – make hundreds of decisions daily that impact thousands of products in our portfolio. Ultimately, these decisions shape Nike’s footprint. To address these impacts head on, we developed a predictive tool to quantify, in real time, the environmental impacts of each choice a designer makes. This is our Considered Index.
The Considered Index is based on more than a decade of research about materials, waste and environmental impacts. It gives designers feedback in key areas – materials, waste, chemistry and innovation – and helps them make informed decisions. This snapshot enables us to assess environmental impacts across our entire portfolio, while letting us chip away at our overall impacts, one product at a time.
