U.S. Internship Program
Get on the career fast track with Nike’s U.S. Internship Program.

The Nike Internship program runs for 12 weeks, or roughly three months, so that you can show us what you’ve got at our World Headquarters. Create, innovate, explore, and learn from the best in the business. From June 4 - August 24, 2012, be prepared for the experience of a lifetime and discover Nike from the inside. 

To make the deal even sweeter, this is a paid internship with access to all of the other employee perks. While working at the World Headquarters, you will have access to our world-class athletic facilities, an employee discount at our employee stores, and numerous other benefits. EMEA & Asia Pacific
While a majority of our internships take place at the Nike WHQ in Beaverton, Oregon, there are plenty of opportunities in one of our many global offices. The diversity of our products is also reflected in the diversity of our employees, and as an intern in our EMEA offices, you will have an opportunity to participate in our unique working environment. The Nike European Headquarters in Hilversum are cutting edge facilities with an eco-friendly design.

U.S. Requirements

 

General U.S. Internship Qualifications:

- You must be a full-time college student.

- You must be a rising Senior (currently a Junior).

- You must have an overall GPA of at least 3.3.

- You must have a major in one of the following fields: all business disciplines, engineering, computer science, polymer science, design, apparel or liberal arts.

 

- You must show proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

 

Design Intern by Nike Internship Requirements

Thank you for your interest in the design internship opportunities at Nike. In order to complete the application process, we need to receive a portfolio from you. The following information outlines the submission requirements.

Design Internship Qualifications:

- You must be a full time college student

- You must be entering your senior year of college, or a graduate school student

- Internships are open to students from around the world. However, if you require a visa, you will have to work with CIEE.org to obtain the necessary student visa required for work eligibility in the U.S.

Submissions Guidelines:

- Apply by Feb. 1, 2012.

- Include a copy of your resume with your portfolio submission.

- Clearly label portfolio cover with your name and area of design interest (i.e. Apparel Design, Graphic Design, Footwear Design, Color Design, Materials Design, ect). Apparel, Footwear, Equipment, Color or Materials Designers: Hard copies in presentation format (no disks, zips or CDs please --- We are not able to print information). No larger than 8.5" x 14"

Note: Portfolios will not be returned once submitted.

Submission Requirements for Apparel Design:

- 4-6 colored, hand illustrated, active wear garments.

- 4-6 computer generated, colored, active wear garments.

- Flat sketches pertinent to active wear.

- Presentation / mood boards pertinent to above work.

- Examples of color, fabrication, trim direction.

Submission Requirements for Graphic Design (Apparel/Footwear):

- Examples of logo work. 3-5 examples of Graphic T-shirt design and/or footwear design w/ application ideas (i.e. screen-print, embroidery or any other application solution).

Submission Requirements for Graphic Design (Brand Design):

- 6-8 color copies of projects completed

- Print, typography, and full lifecycle branding examples

Submission Requirements for Footwear, Product and Equipment Design:

- 4-6 color copies of projects completed

- 3-4 conceptual sketches of your thought process prior to the final project

Submission Requirements for Color Design:

- 3-5 samples of full-cycle color design projects

- Portfolio should demonstrate your thought process including customer insight, palette creation, and application onto product.

Submission Requirements for Materials Design:

- 3-5 copies of material design products (textiles, leathers, synthetics, etc).

Portfolio needs to illustrate customer insights and presentation/mood boards leading to the final design stages.

EMEA Requirements

Take the following criteria into account when you want to apply for an internship at Nike's European Headquarters in Hilversum.

- You are a student currently enrolled in school or university, preferably in your 3rd or 4th year.

- You have proof of eligibility to work in the European Union countries.

- You must be enrolled in a school or university within the EMEA region.

- You have a major preferably in one of the following fields: all business sciences, computer science, design, merchandising, apparel/textiles or liberal arts.

- You are available to work the number of hours and period designated for the internship you are applying for.

Is this a paid internship?
Yes. All Nike interns are paid a competitive salary.

How does the hiring process work?
Once an application is submitted, it is reviewed against the requirements for the position. If your skills meet the necessary requirements for the position, you may receive a call from Nike for a more in-depth conversation about your resume and qualifications. You will be interviewed by the Recruiter and/or the Hiring Manager for the position, depending upon the position. An offer will be extended to the strongest candidate for the role.

What is the timing for the internship hiring process?
The internship hiring process takes approximately four weeks from the first contact with a recruiter until an intern is hired. Students not accepted into the summer program will get a phone or e-mail response by late spring.

When will I hear about the status of my application?
As positions are filled, candidates will be notified either by phone or e-mail of their status.

How many internship opportunities are available?
Internship positions are posted according to business needs so we cannot supply an exact number of available spots. 

Do you have opportunities for MBA's?
Yes. Please search the graduate student opportunities.

Do you accept international students?
Yes. International students must be legally authorized to work in the United States or EMEA based on their citizenship or current work visa and must be an MBA student.

I don't see any jobs posted, have I missed the opportunity to apply for the program?
Jobs will be posted as received by our Talent Acquisition. If you don't see positions posted please continue to check back on a regular basis through February.

What do I do if there isn't an internship opportunity that interests me at this time?
The majority of internship positions will be posted through February. If you want to get ready now, create your profile. Then, come back later and apply for positions that match your qualifications and interests.

Do I qualify for an internship to gain work experience after I have finished school or university?|
In order to be eligible for an internship, Nike requires that you are either enrolled in school or university and at least in your third year.

When is the application deadline?
We will accept applications until we have filled open positions.

Should I send a copy of my resume via regular mail?
No. If you want to be considered for an internship, you must apply online. There are a few exceptions. Design candidates are required to mail us copies of their portfolio. For all the details, see the requirements for design candidates.

Where are internship opportunities located?
Most internship opportunities are located at our World Headquarters near Beaverton, Oregon and our European Headquarters in Hilversum, The Netherlands. However, many of offices worldwide accept interns. Search for opportunities by country to find out where the positions are located.

What is Oregon like?

I am coming from outside of Oregon. How will I find housing?
For housing suggestions please refer to the following Nike approved location: US Suites. A link to this site will be included in the welcome letters of those accepted into the program. It is your responsibility to acquire and arrange your own housing.

Will I have to pay for my own housing and transportation?
Most interns coming from outside of Oregon will receive a travel and living stipend (subject to tax). These will be included with your first paycheck, so you will need to cover these costs ahead of time.

Do you accept international students?
Yes, however all students must possess a valid work permit for the Netherlands.

Does Nike cover costs relating to travel to and from The Netherlands for international students?
No, Nike will not cover costs relating to travel to and from The Netherlands regardless of the candidates’ home country. Nike will also not provide housing. However, Nike does provide a monthly internship allowance for every intern.
